This accessibility statement applies to the website of the Berlin State Library – Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, published at the URL https://intrecht.de .

As a public body within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, we are committed to ensuring that our websites and mobile applications are accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Act on the Equality of Persons with Disabilities (BGG) and the Accessible Information Technology Regulation (BITV 2.0) implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

Status of compliance with the requirements

The accessibility requirements are set out in Sections 3(1) to (4) and 4 of the BITV 2.0, which was enacted on the basis of Section 12d of the BGG.
The assessment of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-assessment carried out between 2 and 9 June 2026, using a BITV-WCAG test report.

Based on this assessment, the website is partially compliant with the aforementioned requirements due to the following non-conformities.

The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:

  • None of the portal’s content is provided in Easy-to-Read German or in German Sign Language. Consequently, the website does not currently meet the requirements of Section 4 of the BITV 2.0.
  • Accessibility of the embedded intRecht Discovery Service search engine cannot currently be guaranteed, as it is still under development.
  • Information on the accessibility level of the Open Access Repository intRechtDok can be found here (only in German).
  • Some HTML structural elements are only partially accessible, as the necessary Bootstrap classes are missing. A revision is in progress. (1.3.1 a–f) 
  • The embedded forms do not use autocomplete. The absence of the autocomplete attribute makes form completion more difficult. This functionality will be added in a future update. (1.3.5a) 
  • Text contrast is adequate: With regard to the events calendar, the requirements for text contrast are only partially met and are therefore not compliant with the requirements (1.4.3). Work is underway to rectify this issue. 
  • Alternative access routes: There are at least two different ways to access the website’s content. This requirement is only partially met (2.4.5). Work is underway to rectify this issue. 
  • Clear indication of the current focus position: The focus is not always identifiable when using the keyboard (2.4.7a). The focus management system will be adjusted during the next major overhaul of the website. 
  • Error detection: Form inputs are not always automatically validated before submission. This functionality will be added in the next major site revision.All identified technical deficiencies will be rectified successively. (3.3.1a). 
  • The activation of accessibility features (EN 5.2) is not fully implemented. This applies to the adjustment of contrast on the events calendar, the adjustment of font sizes, and the reading aloud of headings by screen readers. Work is underway to rectify this issue in order to achieve an improvement. 
  • Linked PDF files are not fully accessible in accordance with the requirements of WCAG 2.1.
